Almost a decade
The FRF story
From a small reggae gathering in two cafés in the north of the island to one of the reference reggae festivals of the Canary Islands. What started as a labour of love has become, edition after edition, a must-attend date for local, Canarian and international audiences.

Timeline
Nine editions, several venues, one shared mission.

4–6 August 2017
I edition · Lajares & Tindaya
The first edition took place in two cafés in Lajares and Tindaya. The turnout beat every expectation and made clear there was a real appetite for live reggae in Fuerteventura.
28–29 September 2018
II edition · Lajares square
The festival jumped to the public square of Lajares — a venue that would shape its identity for years. Over 900 people confirmed that the free, rural open-air format was the right path.
27–28 September 2019
III edition · breakthrough
Run by AJAI with backing from the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and La Oliva town council, it hit record numbers: 1,200 simultaneous attendees at peak Saturday and around 2,400 total visits over the weekend.
25–26 September 2020
IV edition · streaming only
With public events restricted, the team recorded at the Corralejo Auditorium and broadcast on social media. The streams pulled in over 2,000 views in the days after release.
24–25 September 2021
V edition · hybrid
A blend of live shows and streaming between the Corralejo Auditorium and El Cohombrillo. The line-up included ReggaeWise SoundSystem, SoSickcrew, Dactah Chando, Summer & One X Band and headliner Earl 16 with Irie Reggae Vibes.

VI edition · back to the streets
A planned move to the Tindaya football pitch — under the sacred mountain — fell through and the team had to fold back to Lajares against the clock. The square filled up again.
22–23 September 2023
VII edition · maturity
Run by AJAI with €15,000 from the Cabildo and €7,000 from La Oliva town council. Despite competing local programming, around 2,500 attendees, no incidents, and a clear boost to local commerce.

FRF
A decade spreading culture, peace and reggae
Across its nine editions, FRF has kept its founding values intact: spreading reggae as cultural expression, supporting local artists, building a culture of coexistence and non-violence, protecting the environment, and boosting the economy and cultural tourism of the towns that host it. A story built, edition after edition, by and for the audience that keeps the music alive in Fuerteventura.
